Analysis the privacy statement of the American Public Libraries and provide privacy statement for public libraries in Iran

Aim: The purpose of this study was to review the privacy statement of the American top public libraries and provide privacy statement for users of public libraries in Iran. Method: The research method is a combination of descriptive survey and Delphi library. The research community consisted of 25 American public libraries based on the rankings of the American Library Association's libraries. The method of data analysis was descriptive and for analyzing the content of documents and Delphi technique, we used the method. By analyzing the privacy statement of superior public libraries based on the ranking of the libraries of the American Association of Librarians, with the exploration approach, the structure and content of these programs were extracted. Results: The results of the study showed that 24 of the 25 libraries presented the User Privacy Statement on their website. Also, the results of the study showed that the Chicago Public Library Statement was the most comprehensive statement, including discussing library strategies about library usage records, records of users' library user profiles, and the reasons for providing and disseminating information to users most often. Finally, the main sections that should be included in the privacy statement of the users are presented. The following suggested strategies for public libraries are presented in the presentation of the user's privacy statement. Conclusion: The results of the research indicate the importance of maintaining the privacy statement of users in the world's top public libraries, and finally, the basic principles of the proposed privacy statement for users in academic libraries were presented and 30 strategies were proposed for setting up privacy statement to public libraries.
